Philadelphia Loses Clout-the State Capitol

At about same the United States Capitol was moving to  Washington, DC,  Pennsylvania moved its capitol from Philadelphia to Lancaster.  There was always a mutual suspicion between Eastern and Western Pennsylvania.  The Pittsburgh area has much greater reliance on the industrial mid-west than with Philadelphia.  The flat terrain going west from Pittsburgh was easier to travel than the mountains between Harrisburg and Philadelphia.  The move of the capitol to Lancaster occurred in  1796 and to Harrisburg in 1812.  I do not know if the city or state has anything planned.  ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

As I recall Harrisburg sports fans are about evenly divided between Baltimore and Philadelphia.  York is has mostly Baltimore fans and Lancaster is mostly Philadelphia.
