Memorable Days-Brig Owens and Dick Anderson

1966 New York Giants at Washington Redskins

This memorable fireworks game saw 736 yards of total offense from both teams.  The Redskins got six turnovers compared to two for the Giants and that was the difference in the game.  Defensive Back Brig Owens to me was the game’s most valuable player.  In the second quarter, he returned a fumble 62 yards for a touchdowns.  Owens later made three pass interceptions for 87 yards including a 62 yarder for a touchdown.  Final and this is no misprint.  Washington 72 Giants 41.

1973 Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers came from a 30 to 3 deficit to make it close with a 30 to 26 loss. Defensive Back Dick Anderson made a unbelievable four interceptions for 121 yards in returns.  He scored touchdowns on runs of 27 and 38 yards.  Most defensive backs don’t intercept four passes all season.
