Replacing a Legend-Danny White in 1982

This entire year was a blight on the NFL with the strike reducing the season to nine game.  The Dallas Cowboys were 6-3, won two playoff games, and lost the NFC Championship Game to the Washington Redskins.  This was their third consecutive NFC Title Game loss.  For the season, Danny White completed 156 passes for a 63.2% completion rate, 2,079 yards, and 16 touchdowns.  White’s big games:

Week 2 at St Louis

Danny completed 20 of 32 passes for 266 yards and a touchdown.  The Cowboys defeated the Cardinals 24 to 7.

Week 5 Dallas at Washington

White completed 21 of 30 passes for 216 yards and one touchdowns.  The Redskins and the Cowboys have a bitter rivalry.  Dallas won 24 to 10

Week 6 at Houston

White’s best day of the season going 24 for 33 for 324 yards and three touchdowns.   Dallas destroyed the Oilers 37 to 7.

Wild Card Week-Tampa Bay at Dallas

Randy White went 25 for 45 for 312 yards and two touchdowns.  The Cowboys beat the Bucs 30 to 17.

Semi-Finals-Green Bay at Dallas

White hit on 24 of 37 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown.  Dallas won 37 to 26.

As stated The Redskins beat Dallas in the NFC Title Game 31 to 17.  The Cowboys learned the old adage-the regular season is no gauge for the playoffs.
