Ted Williams and Stan Musial-Both Came Back

The subject ball players have too many records to mention.  What seldom is noticed is that went down in the same year and came back with good to great seasons.

Ted Williams

1958 age 40  HRs 26   RBIs 85    BA  .328

1959 age 41   HRs 10   RBIs  43    BA  .254

1960 age 42   HRs 29  RBIs  72    BA  .316

Ted Williams got 98 hit in 310 at bats in 1960.  One bad year but came back and retired at the right time.  What would he have done had he not served four years in the Armed Forces?

Stan Musial

1958  age  37  HRs 17  RBIs  62   BA  .328

1959   age 38  HRs 14  RBIs  44   BA  .255

1960   age 39   HRs 17  RBIs  63  BA  .275

1961    age 40  HRs  15  RBIs  70  BA .288

1962   age  41   HRs 19  RBIs  82   BA .330

1963   age  42   HRs 12  RBIs  58   BA .255

Musial’s statistics are even more amazing.  Thought to be over hill in 1959, he hot a rousing .330 in 1962.
